Privacy Policy

Clipmino reads videos you choose, creates and checks the compressed copy on your device, and never uploads video, frames, or audio.

Effective October 26, 2026 · Applies to the Clipmino Android app and clipmino.com

Who operates Clipmino and what this policy covers

Clipmino is a Lakea Tech product published by Lakea LLC. This policy covers the Clipmino Android app and the clipmino.com website.

Clipmino has no accounts, no advertising, and no cloud media processing. Questions and privacy requests go to support@lakea.tech.

Videos and files processed on your device

Clipmino works only with videos you choose through Android's system picker or share with the app. It reads, compresses, and checks those files on the device. Video, frames, and audio are not sent to Lakea, RevenueCat, or any other server.

When the source carries a capture date, Clipmino writes that date into the compressed copy's file so the copy keeps it in your gallery and on any device you send it to. Location data is not copied into the output.

Find the moment and the instruction box run on your device. To search a video, Clipmino looks at one frame every two seconds in memory and keeps only a numeric index of those frames and their brightness, stored with that video's session and deleted with it once the session expires, 24 hours after you choose the video (at the app's next clean-up). Frames are never saved. What you type into the search or the instruction box is processed in memory; Clipmino does not store it in a file or database, send it anywhere, or include it in usage counts. The AI model stays in the folder where Google Play installed it, and you can remove it in Settings.

Include what's said. On supported phones, if you turn on Include what's said in Find the moment, Clipmino listens to that video's sound once, on your device, to suggest possible moments from what is said or heard. It keeps only a numeric index of the sound, one entry for every five seconds, with no recording and no text. That index is stored with the video's session and deleted with it, 24 hours after you choose the video, and when you remove the AI pack. This feature does not turn speech into text, does not save the sound, and sends none of it anywhere.

Captions. On supported phones, if you ask for captions, Clipmino turns what is said in that video into caption lines on your device, with a speech model Google Play delivers as the optional captions pack. Nothing is added to your video until you review the lines, and you can edit any of them. The lines are stored with the video's session and deleted with it, 24 hours after you choose the video; removing the captions pack keeps them until then. When you export with captions, the lines and the look you chose are saved with that export's record on your device, so a retry adds the same captions. The sound and the lines are never sent anywhere.

Translating captions. If you translate captions, Clipmino uses Google's ML Kit translation, which runs on your device. The first time you translate to or from a language, ML Kit downloads that language's file (about 30 to 40 MB) from Google, over Wi-Fi, or over mobile data only if you agree. Your captions are translated on the phone, and their text is not sent to Google. You can remove downloaded language files in Settings. A machine translation can be wrong, so translated lines are marked and you review every line before they are added.

Blur areas and Find faces. If you use Blur areas (Pro), the boxes you draw are blurred in the exported copy, and only there; your original is never changed. The positions and times of the boxes, never the pictures under them, are saved with that export's record on your device, so a retry blurs the same areas. Find faces uses Google's ML Kit face detection, which runs on your device. It looks at frames of the video in memory, never saves them, and adds the faces it suggests as boxes for you to check in a preview. It can miss a face, which is why the preview is required before export.

Google's ML Kit. Find faces and caption translation use ML Kit, a Google library included in the app. When you use them, ML Kit sends Google technical information about how the library runs: the device's manufacturer, model and Android version, the app's name and version, performance metrics, the settings the feature was used with (for translation, the language pair), the size of what it processed, error codes, and identifiers created for this installation of the app, which Google says are not intended to identify you or your device. Google uses this information to measure, maintain and improve ML Kit, receives it over an encrypted connection, and says it does not pass it to third parties. ML Kit never sends your video, its frames, its sound, your captions or the boxes it suggests. Google processes this information under its own terms and privacy policy.

Clipmino never changes your source video, and never deletes it. A successful result is saved as a separate file in Movies/Clipmino. Once that copy is saved and checked, the app can offer to have the original removed: the request goes to Android, Android shows its own confirmation, and Android removes the file only if you agree. Clipmino may copy the selected video into its private storage when Android cannot give the app stable access to the original, and it creates temporary files while an export is running.

Information stored on your device

Clipmino stores the last size limit you used, records of completed exports (including the size of the source and of the copy and the destination preset, which the home screen totals as this month's savings), your remaining free exports, how many free Find the moment searches you have used, the sound index of a video you searched with Include what's said and the caption lines of a video you captioned (each until its session expires), whether you have used your free video with captions, your last caption style, the areas you chose to blur and the captions you added to an export (with that export's record), the apps your last 20 shared copies went to (used to order the share icons), lifetime totals of videos fitted and of the space freed by removing originals, when the app last asked Google Play for its rating prompt and last showed you the Pro offer, your last known Pro status and when it was saved, and the state of an export that was interrupted so it can be retried. Android backup is disabled for Clipmino, so this information is not copied to the cloud by the app.

If you allow it, Clipmino also keeps usage counts on your device: events such as an export finishing or the Pro screen opening, with coarse details such as the destination preset and a size range, and for the AI features whether a download or a search index finished, a coarse failure reason, and whether a search found a match (never what you searched for), whether a search included what's said and whether it listed a possible moment, which list a tapped moment came from, for Blur areas a rough count of the areas (1, 2 to 3, or 4 or more) and whether any came from Find faces (never where they were), and for captions whether writing them finished or failed, whether a language file download finished (never which language), and, for an export with captions, the style preset and whether the lines were translated or in beta (never the lines, their times or the language). They are kept only after you agree, never include videos, file names or exact sizes, and leave your device only if you export them from Settings. Turning the setting off deletes them, and counts older than 90 days are deleted.

The app uses file access for videos you select, notifications to show a cancellable progress notice, foreground processing so Android keeps an active export running, and network access for purchases, for translation language files you ask for, and for the information Google's ML Kit sends (see above). Google Play may also show its in-app rating prompt, which runs through the Play Store under Google's own terms and never includes your video. On supported phones, if you ask for the optional AI pack (485 MB), Google Play downloads it to your phone; Clipmino sends nothing to Google for it beyond Play's own delivery request. On some of those phones, Google Play may also deliver a small note for each pack (under 10 KB) without a tap, which tells the app that the pack is not available there. On the same phones, if you ask for captions, Google Play downloads the optional captions pack (874 MB) the same way. Language files for caption translation come from Google's servers through ML Kit, only when you ask for a language. It does not request access to your whole photo or video library.

Purchases through Google Play and RevenueCat

Clipmino Pro is offered through Google Play Billing as a monthly or yearly subscription, with entitlement handled by RevenueCat. A subscription renews until you cancel it in Google Play. If you bought Pro earlier as a one-time purchase, it stays active. Google Play processes the transaction under Google's own terms; Lakea does not receive your complete payment-card information.

RevenueCat receives a random anonymous identifier created for your installation, purchase history, and the Google purchase token needed to verify the entitlement. Its service may also process technical context such as device type, operating system, app version, country, locale, timestamps, and IP address. Clipmino does not send your name, email address, phone number, or advertising identifier, and neither service receives your video content.

Website data and cookies

clipmino.com is a static website. It sets no cookies and loads no analytics, advertising, social widgets, or third-party scripts. There are no accounts and no forms.

Our hosting provider, Amazon Web Services, may record standard server logs when a page is requested: IP address, request time, requested URL, response status, referrer, and user agent. Clipmino does not enable access logging, does not collect those logs, and does not use them.

Retention, deletion, and your choices

You can cancel an export, discard interrupted work, delete saved copies in your media library, or clear Clipmino's storage in Android settings. Uninstalling the app removes its private files and local records; copies you already saved stay in your media library until you delete them.

To ask us to delete purchase data held by RevenueCat, write to support@lakea.tech. Google, RevenueCat, payment providers, and applicable law may require some purchase records to be kept. Clipmino has no account, so there is no account to delete.

Security, children, and international processing

Because compression happens on your device, there is no Lakea server holding your videos. The website is served over HTTPS, and app files stay in Android's private app storage until you save an export. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, and we make no absolute security guarantee.

Clipmino is a general utility and is not directed to children, and the app does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Lakea LLC operates from the United States. Purchase, entitlement, hosting data and the information ML Kit sends may be processed by Google, RevenueCat, and our hosting provider in countries other than yours, under their own terms and safeguards. Your video content and your captions are not part of that processing.

Changes and contact

We show a new effective date when this policy changes materially, and publish the change before the behaviour it describes is released.
